The Rocking Dead

This is the project of my life, the reason I quit my stable career to create comics!

I aim to tell the true history of Rock’n’Roll, including all the secrets that have been jealously hidden. We will learn all this as we follow the rite of passage of a young girl, on her way to becoming a Master of Noize.

Music has a paranormal effect on those who love it with a passion, giving them powers—and sometimes even superpowers! It did to me anyway, and I wish through my characters to show how Rock’n’Roll can change a life, and thus the world.

The Rocking Dead will present the true story of rock’n’roll, through the adventures of a teen girl, who dies and goes to Rock’n’Roll Heaven. As she straddles the two worlds of school life and the afterlife, she learns about power, voodoo, love and revolution.

If there’s a Rock’n’Roll Heaven…

How far would you go to find it?

Aya is an angry, solitary teen. After she dies in a freak accident, she begins the long climb up the stairway to heaven. On the way, she spots a door hidden in a small side alley, with “Heaven” written above it in bright neon. She pushes through the door and finds herself in the coolest club ever, where dead rock stars hang out and play the best music she has never heard.

They say that legends never die, but they never tell you that it’s a literal fact. The best of them hang out in Heaven, the endless club of the Rockin’ Dead. Aya gets to hang out with her idols, and they tell her stories from their past, the truth about Rock ‘n’ Roll that nobody knows. They party like there was no tomorrow. She has the time of her life. She could stay there forever… except that she misses being alive, as shitty as her old life was.

She spots a door marked Exit and walks through it… back to the land of the living. Once she is there, though, she can only think of one thing: how to visit Heaven again. Even if it means killing herself.

Which she does. Again, and again. Now that she knows how to outfox death, why not? But how can she sate her obsession, while staying sane and not destroying her body? And is there more to Heaven than just partying? Why can’t anyone else see the Exit door? What have the Rocking Dead been up to in the past decades? Is she a part of it? Is that why the more she learns about Rock’n’Roll, the more strange powers she seems to have?

The Rocking Dead is part supernatural thriller, part teen drama, part history lesson, and many parts psych-trip. Can you handle the Truth?
